Counting On God, Part 17 – 04/10/12

Share

We concluded our series this week by finishing up the account of David recorded in 2 Samuel 5. Like David, we have areas where we are spiritually strong and areas where we are weak. David’s weaknesses did not exclude him from being used by God! God allowed the weeds and the wheat to exist together just as He does in our own lives. God is patient and He waits for the right season when we are ready to respond. Counting on God is BELIEVING HIM. This is our work, to believe His words are true.

When faced with an attack from the enemy we can look at David’s example of how to respond (2 Sam. 5:17-25). David ran to God. The presence of God is the safest place you can be, no matter what the atmosphere looks like around you. Then David asked. So often we have not because we ask not. We need to pray with expectation and exaltation of the God who answers prayer. Finally, David listened. He told God his desires but waited with open hands to whatever God would do. He did not presume. Often God responds in different ways even to similar circumstances. By presuming that He will “do what He did the last time” we often get ahead of God. We are called to abide.

Kathy charged us to remember that GOD IS ABLE!! No matter what, God is able. He is trustworthy and you can believe Him. Those who trust Him lack no beneficial thing (Ps. 34:10). He longs to show us.
