Fundamentals of Victory, Part 4 – 10/19/10

Share

This week we learned about the 7th Fundamental of Victory – a process mindset. First we were reminded that the God who began a good work in us will complete it (Phil. 1:6).  To have a process mindset we need to practice these principles: We need to (1) Count on God to create and maintain what He started as well as for the grace to follow His Spirit. Our job is to trust and believe, even when our circumstances don’t appear to agree with God’s promises. We can have (2) Confidence that God is at work, that He is doing something new, and that it is good. Sometimes the new thing can feel uncomfortable, but we must not let our discomfort cause us to doubt. God is in charge of the (3) Completion of His plans and we need to adjust our thinking when it comes to the timeline. Building character and trust takes time. Just as we are waiting on God, He too is waiting on us. He is waiting to be gracious and to have mercy on us (Is. 30:18 KJV).

The same God that brought the children out of Israel is the same God that broke the chains off Paul and Silas in prison, and He is the same God that is at work in us. God is good and we can count on Him to complete that which He has started. We can count on the truth that what He is doing in our lives and in the lives of those we love is good. Let us remember that growth takes time and let’s ask Him to reveal to us any places where we have fear or doubt so that He can minister to us there and cement His truths in those shaky places. Let us stand on the promise that we will know Him better in whatever place we are waiting and that we will have a testimony in this place.
